FLAG DAY - The Documentary Well, here it is, the final chapter in the Labor Day Trilogy I set out to make almost four years ago. Flag Day is not your average kind of Stunt Island film... It's a documentary that provides an in-depth look at the complicated processes involved in making a Stunt Island film. At the same time, it's also a satire mocking the limitations of this 1993 DisneySoft Program and the ingenuity of filmmakers who use it around the world. As in my last two films, Flag Day includes sampled voices and music. This film, however, boasts an uncanny 15 minutes of music and over 120 lines of dialogue in a 19 minute documentary and trailer. I got my inspiration for Flag Day from such documentaries as Crumb, and Man Bites Dog. You may notice some music and other subtlties that make reference to these films. There are also many other references in Flag Day to films varying from Men in Black to the Star Wars movies (even Phantom Menace!) And no, I'm not planning on actually making the 2 hour epic, Flag Day... it turns out the film was scrapped when its cast and crew of dozens wanted more than the $5000 budget I allotted for it! I'd like to thank all the great cast members who lended their voices to make this film a reality, and I especially need to thank that Australian, Kieran, for his voice talent, great custom objects, and the use of ObjectStudio for the titles. So go and enjoy the labors of nearly two years of work!
