SPEED KILLS - Part I ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oh no! Dr. Havoc's crack terror commando, known only as "Speed", has stolen the top secret XM-31 Jet Car from Hank Maverick, ace stunt driver and CIA operative (don't ask why Hank had it hidden in an unguarded hangar just off the interstate, he's smacked one too many windshields during sudden deceleration and he *IS* CIA after all!) Will "Speed" pull off this daring attack? Can Hank return from his vacation in sunny Hawaii in time to stop him? Only time will tell... ----------------------------------------------------------------- This short film (approx 2.5 minutes worth) was created over the course of about 3 days. Having recently re-installed Stunt Island and discovered the number for the Disney BBS, I called to get a copy of SIUPDATE (and excellent resource for Stunt Island fans!). Several of the techniques discussed in SIUPDATE sounded interesting and this film was my vehicle for "playing" with them! Although the film looks deceptively simple, it actually required five sets, numerous cameras and props and more collision windows than I care to count! There is no "flying" prop per se. If you look real closely at the beginning of the film you'll see a Interstate 5 sign beside the highway, this is Prop 1! For sets in which I want all props to be event controlled, I'll normally set global brakes on and place Prop 1 with an initial speed of zero. With a little planning and careful positioning, you can use Prop 1 and the Spotter Plane as two extra cameras to film OTHER props in your set!
